A Day in the Life of a Propane Delivery Driver at Waltz & Sons Propane

Daily life as a Delivery Driver for Waltz & Sons Propane consists of a face paced day. Most of the days we try to get 40 to 50 (or more) of our customers a delivery of propane. We also load our truck multiple times a day if needed.

Not all places we deliver to guarantee a driveway that we can back into, so if you see us parked on the side of the road, similar to tow trucks and emergency vehicles, please slow down and move over for us. If we are backing into a driveway, please slow down for just a few seconds. We will get out of the way so you can be on your way as fast as possible. In this day and age, drivers are so distracted that most will just come flying by with no regard for our safety.

Valued customers, please keep an eye on those tanks. If you see bees or wasps building a nest under the tank lids, please remove them for us. It’s never a good day to get stung by those angry beasts. Please read our previous blog, “Why are bees and wasps swarming around my propane tank

I know a lot of time the big push in the Winter is to keep a clear path so we can safely make a delivery. Believe it or not, this continues in the Summer. One big Spring issue is dog poop. Please pick up dog poop on the path to the tank. We may be able to walk around it, but that doesn’t guarantee that the delivery hose will make it unscathed through those “land mines”. We appreciate not getting dog poop on us or the equipment.

Please keep these things in mind regarding your propane deliveries and our drivers:

If you have grill cylinders, that are certified and up to code, we can fill them for you on site. We cannot fill them at our office. So, if you’d like to have your grill tanks filled while we are making a delivery to your home, please give us a heads up.

Please keep these things in mind regarding your propane deliveries and our drivers:

  • It’s not always a straight line from where they park to your tank. They may have to pull straight back for additional length to make it around corners and any obstacles in your yard. Obstacles include gardens, flower beds, fences, decks, patio furniture, etc.
  • The hose weighs 40 lbs and is up to 135 feet long and not pliable. The longer the pull, the heavier it gets.
  • Propane tanks are filled by bleeder so you may have some residual smell immediately following a delivery. This will dissipate quickly.
  • Please keep the path and area of your tank clean and safe.

Thank you very much. Ryan P. (one of Waltz & Sons Propane friendly delivery drivers)
